When I was a kid, poison ivy was never an issue for me. But, partway through my teenage years I was helping my dad fix our street sign (private street, small town, over the years the snow plows had been slowly pushing it farther and farther over) and there was poison ivy in the bushes around the sign and I ended up getting a pretty decent itchy rash from it. Luckily, it wasn't too bad.

The same exact thing happened to me when we crossed the border at Niagara Falls. The border patrol agent kept asking if we had medical treatment. We assumed he was asking if we had medical treatment in Canada. Border Patrol should be more clear in their questioning. "Have you had any medical "tests" in the last month?" would have been more appropriate. I notified the doctor's office since they failed to inform me the radio active material would remain in my body for several weeks.

What a great resource list! Thanks for sharing.

I have one to add: Love INC,(www.loveincnj.org) a social service organization helping people in need in Monmouth County, collects furniture and bicylces to provide to their clients. They will collect the items at no charge. Go green and lend a helping hand at the same time!

(Full disclosure: My firm, Mimi Foster & Company,(www.mimi-foster.com) provides pro-bono design and communications work for this organization.)

I crossed from Ft. Erie into Buffalo NY today, had a stress test yesterday, set off all kind of sensors. No one explained how this happened but after reading this article, gives me great respect for our Border patrols. I'm happy to be an American and live in the USA, thanks for this blog.

Diego muy bueno! One of the thing that bother me the most is that upon presenting information or explaining a safety hazardtomy non-english spoken students, they all agreed that one thing is in class and one in the work site. They mentioned to me that certain patrones tell to do as they told or get fired. You can explained to them as much as possible about OSHA, but they all are scared of loosing their job.

This is almost to a letter exactly what happened to us crossing back into Michigan from Canada a couple of weeks after my husband had a cardiac stress test! We were also amazed at how the miniscule amount of radiation present was enough to set off the detection system. It made me feel a tiny bit safer knowing that.

Hello,

I found the name of John DeFillippo on the EMILCOTT website, where he had obtained his CHMP cert. Congratulations! I too would like to obtain my CHMP, but I am having trouble finding study material, and with the cost of applying, and testing, I would like to give myself the best chance to pass the exam.

Are there and materials or websites that you would reccomend?

Thank you in advance for your help,
Kenneth Horn
